Our office performs a complete eye exam consisting of a case history to determine your particular visual needs. A refraction of your eyeglass prescription for driving, reading and computer work. An assessment of your binocular vision. An examination of your ocular health including the cornea, pupil, lens, optic nerve and retina to check for conditions such as lazy eye, cataracts, glaucoma and retinal detachments. We also provide automated visual field testing and refractive surgery co-management.
Doctors Chan and Chong are also authorized low vision providers with the ADP assistive devices program run by the Ministry of Health of Ontario. Certain eye conditions such as Macular Degeneration and Diabetic Retinopathy can cause irreversible damage to the eye leaving a person legally blind.
Ordinary eyeglasses no longer work. We can help with the use of high powered telescopes, microscopes, filters and magnifiers to restore some vision. A low vision person may be able to regain the ability to perform some daily activities again such as reading.
Our doctors are ADP authorizers and vendors and can determine if you are eligible for financial assistance from the ADP government program to subsidize the cost of low vision aids.
